Wii Play with Wii Remote Controller (Wii)

Wii Play5
Hi, I got this with the Wii Remote and it was fantastic!
There are 9 activities in Wii Play to help improve on your skills with the Wii Remote and here they are...

Stage 1 (SHOOTING RANGE): In this game, you shoot at targets that appear one after another.
This is good practise in aiming the Wii Remote.
A or B to shoot.
If you score a certain number of direct hits consecutively, you get a bonus.
One person can play this game using two Wii Remotes at the same time.
To do so, connect two Wii Remotes, and hold one in each hand.
Two-player mode: When two players play, they compete for the highest score.

Stage 2 (FIND MII): In this game, you have to find the specified Mii among lots of other Miis, within a limited period of time.
This is good practise in aiming the Wii Remote.
To select the specified Mii: Press A.
Press B to check the goal.
If you get it right, you will go to the next level, and the time remaining is extended slightly (10 SECONDS).
If you get it wrong, the time remaining decreases slightly.
Two-player mode: In Two-player mode, the winner is the player who finds the specified Mii first.
Get the wrong Mii, and you lose points (5 SECONDS).
When one of the players finds the right Mii, you both move on to the next level, but the time will not be extended and the winner will be the one with most points at the end.

Stage 3 (TABLE TENNIS): In this game, the aim is to see how many times you can return the ball with the paddle.
This is good practise in manipulating the Wii Remote fast and accurately.
Press A to start the game and move the paddle by moving the Wii Remote.
Two-player mode: Press the A Button to serve the ball and start the game.
The winner is the first player to score 11 points.
By moving the paddle to the left or the right as you hit the ball, you can change the ball's trajectory.

Stage 4 (POSE MII): Match the Mii with the 3 types of silhouettes (IN BUBBLES).
This allows you to become accustomed to the Wii Remote's twist controls.
Change the Mii's pose by pressing the A or B button.
Top: Standing Straight Pose.
Middle: Ginger Bread Man Pose.
Bottom: Egyptian Pose.
A: Choose silhouette above you.
B: Choose silhouette below you.
Get points by tilting the Wii Remote to match the angle of the silhouette.
If the silhouette falls to the bottom of the screen, this counts as one miss.
Three misses and it's game over.
Two-player mode: The player with the highest score at the end wins.

Stage 5 (LASER HOCKEY): In this game, you use the paddle to shoot the puck into your opponent's goal.
This is good practise in moving and twisting the Wii Remote.
Use the Wii Remote to operate the paddle.
When you twist the Wii Remote, the paddle tilts.
By hitting the puck with the paddle at different angles, you can change the angle at which the puck bounces off it.
If you press the A and B Buttons at the same time during the countdown at the start of the game, you will be able to change the shape of the paddle.
Two-player mode: The winner is the first player to reach a score of 8 points.

Stage 6 (BILLIARDS): In this game, you hit the balls to drop them into the pockets.
This is good practise in moving the Wii Remote towards and away from the screen.
1: Specify the direction in which you want to hit the ball.
Point at the spot away from the ball.
Holding down B, move from the Wii Remote.
You can also aim using the + Control Pad.
A: Display a bird's eye view of the table.

2: Fix the position from which you are going to hit the ball.
Point at the ball, and fix the position from which you are going to hit it.
By hitting the ball below the centre, you can give it backspin, and by hitting it above the centre, you can give it topspin.

3: Hit the ball.
Pull the Wii Remote away from the screen, holding down B as you do so.
Release B, moving the Wii Remote straight towards the screen as you do so.

The idea is to pocket the balls in order starting with the one with the lowest number (icons are displayed).
The fewer strokes you take to drop all the balls, the higher your score will be (ORDER OF BALLS: BRIGHT YELLOW; BLUE; RED; PURPLE; ORANGE; GREEN; DARK BROWN; BLACK AND FINALLY DIM YELLOW).
Two-player mode: The player whose portrait is on the cue ball hits the ball.
You proceed in order, starting with the ball with the lowest number, and the number on each ball you drop is added to your score.
When you drop a ball in the pocket, you get to go next.
The winner is the player with the highest score at the end.
Note (FOULS): If you drop the cue ball into the pocket or hit the wrong ball by mistake, this is a foul, and you lose points.
In Single-player mode you get to place the cue ball in the position of your choice next time.
In Two-player mode, your opponent gets to do this.

Stage 7 (FISHING): In this game, you catch fish, aiming to score as many points as you can.
This is good practise in moving the Wii Remote vertically horizontally and back and forth.
Use the Wii Remote to move the fishing rod.
When you get a bit, swing the Wii Remote upward to hook out the fish.
If a fish has been on the hook for a certain period of time without you hooking it up, it will get away.
If you catch a "bonus fish", you gain double the number of points.
When you get near the time limit, the time remaining will be displayed.
Two-player mode: The winner is the player who has the highest total score.
When both players get the same fish on the hook, the first to swing up their Wii Remote catches it.

Stage 8 (CHARGE!): In this game, the aim is to make the cow run, and score goals while knocking down scarecrows.
This is good practise in holding the Wii Remote horizontally in both hands and tilting it, or swinging it upward quickly.
This game is played with the Wii Remote held horizontally so that the + Control Pad is on the left.

Tilt the Wii Remote forward: Speed up.

Tilt the Wii Remote to the left: Turn to the left.

Raise the Wii Remote quickly: Jump.

Tilt the Wii Remote to the right: Turn to the right.

Tilt the Wii Remote towards you: Slow down.

If you knock down a whole group of scarecrows, this is a perfect results and you earn more points (5 POINTS) and if you get a scarecrow that is running from side to side you earn 15 points.
Two-player mode: The winner is the one who gets the higher score (PLAYER 1:WHITE & BLACK COW, PLAYER 2:DARK AND LIGHT BROWN COW).

Stage 9 (MY FAVOURITE) (TANKS!): In this game, you use shells and mines to destroy your enemy (I like to kill my partner on easier levels for fun).
This is good practise in pointing the Wii Remote while using the + Control Pad.
Point at the screen and move the gun sights.
A: Drop mines.
+ Control Pad: Steer tank.
B: Fire.
If you are hit by a shell or engulfed in a mine explosion, this counts as a "miss:, and when you have no more tanks left, the game is over.
You can fire up to 5 shells consecutively
You can place a maximum of 2 mines at once: mines are detonated when they are hit by a shell or when a tank gets close to them, or after a certain amount of time has elapsed or if you walk over it, these mines blow up parts of or if small all of strange looking walls on the screen.
Two-player mode: The winner is the person who destroys the most computer-controlled tanks.
If either player has any tanks left, they move on to the next mission.
Here are the tanks that I have been to.
Black tanks: Move and shoot shells.
Brownish gold tanks: Do not move but have good aim and shoot shells.
Dark greenish blue tanks: Fire rockets and move.
Yellow tanks: Move fast and set mines and shoot shells.
Red tanks: Move and shoot lots of shells consecutively.
Green tanks (CAN BE VERY ANNOYING): Do not move and shoot rockets that bounce of many walls, I think 3 times it bounces on a wall.
Purple tank: Move awfully fast and shoot shells... that's all I've seen, you might have seen more.
Playing with the Nunchuk: If you connect the Nunchuk, you will be able to move tanks using the Control Stick (other operations remain the same and I find it easier with the nunchuk).
Note: If two people are going to play using the Nunchuk, each player will need both a Wii Remote and a Nunchuk.

Overall this is a great game and is fun for all ages and if you have a Nintendo Wii, you have to get this game to learn the basic skills of the Wii Remote.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review.
10/10.

Great controller with tutorial games4
So, you need an extra controller for your Wii, and you can buy it on its own, or for a fiver extra with Wii Play. You already have one Wiimote so you know the score there, but where does that extra money go? Wii Play is a collection of ninr small tutorial games, similar in style to Wii Sports, that are designed to help you hone your wiimote sharp-shooting/twisting/tilting/waving skills. Although some of the games are a bit dull, there's certainly about half like Billiards, the "Duck Hunt" style game, a 2d tank game and a spot of cow-riding that will draw you back for a quick 20 minute play every so often. The two-player support makes this a great companion to Wii Sports, and certainly extends the life of the product. Not particularly long, in-depth or nice looking, the game is fun nontheless gives you another taste of what the Wiimote can do and is worth the modest amount on top of the Wiimote as priced on its own.

It's fun... but not enough!3
Wii Play was one of the first games I purchased for my Nintendo Wii. For its price, it is an absolute bargain, but mainly just for getting a Wiimote for pretty much nothing!

I have deeply mixed feelings about this game. There are some very good points about it, but at the same time those bad things bring it down enough to not give it a 4-star rating.

When you first start playing the game, it seems great as you begin to get immersed in the colour and excitement of the game, and cannot stop playing it for a while - you end up thinking you will never stop playing it!

...One hour down the line, and the novelty is starting to wear off. You have unlocked all the games, and are scrolling through the 9 mini-games, trying to find one you might want to play again. You eventually pick one and play it for a few minutes.

Within another half-hour, the Wii is off and you're busy doing something else. Unless you are a really devoted player, you have not bothered playing them all again loads to win all the gold medals and best scores.

There really isn't much to it than that. A game worth playing for a while, but nothing you will want to devote the rest of your afternoon to.

Good Points

A good use of the Wiimote and Nunchuck for 'Tanks', making the most out of the Wii's controlling system.
A range of games to keep you occupied, and some that will keep you playing for a while!
Very fun two-player action - a lot more fun multiplayer than single.
Chances to set high scores and challenge your friends and family to try and best them.
You get to use your Mii's in one of the only other games besides Wii Sports - that's got to be great!

Bad Points

Gameplay begins to seem repetitive very quickly.
It's simply boring one-player - it only really gets fun when you have two people battling each other for the top score!
Multiplayer only extends to two people playing at one time - although it is possible to have up to four, the game makers didn't want to seem to use this feature, which would have made the game twice as good, in my opinion.
There's not much variety to what you are playing - different modes of the games could have added extra gameplay, extra features to enhance gameplay and create more original gameplay scenarios, such as Training, Tournaments, Elimination Rounds and so on.

The mini-games that do deserve a mention are Charge!, Laser Hockey and Shooting. They are all great mini-games and are the ones I spent most of the time playing - Laser Hockey, although just a newer version of 'Pong', still seems original and great for two players! Charge is riding through a countryside on a berserk cow, crashing into things and smashing things up! What's there not to love? Shooting is tactical and fun for everyone.

The mini-game that I had high-hopes for being really fun and time-devoting was Table Tennis, but it's just a let-down. All you do is vollying, back and forth, back and forth, over and over. There's no skill involved, besides moving the bat left or right, and even thats sometimes hard - the control system is clunky and hard to get to grips with. However, you can execute power vollies, which add an extra touch to the game.

Overall, it is a great game for the money, and well worth it just to get another Wiimote, but don't buy it expecting to have a long, good time playing it. It won't last you long, but it will be a very fun ride while it lasts.
Best played in short bursts, and only with at least one other person.

Wii Play with Wii Remote Controller (Wii) Description

No matter what your gaming experience Nintendo has just the game for you to play with your friends and family. Wii Play consists of a selection of nine very different mini-games on one game, which are designed to help you master the unique Wii Remote, whilst also providing hours of entertainment. To ensure you can enjoy Wii Play with your friends, the game comes bundled with a free Wii Remote. Wii Play consists of a variety of quirky games that can be played either alone or with a friend. This includes Shooting Range, which is the first game unlocked and is reminiscent of the classic Duck Hunt (released on the NES). In order to unlock the next game the player simply needs to complete the previous one (this sequence continues throughout). When all of the games have been unlocked players can start earning medals for their performance. Find Mii involves picking the right face out of a crowd in an environment that constantly changes - its a race against the clock and each other! Pose Mii requires players to make their Mii characters fit into the shapes in the Wii bubbles. To do this they must swing the remote to the right angle to make it fit inside. The psychedelic colours and quirky graphics involved in this puzzle make it instantly addictive. Other games included are Charge, where players have to hold onto a rampaging bull and try not to fall off! Players steer their bull and make it jump by moving the Wii Remote in the right direction, attempting to knock over scarecrows on the way. Tanks, which also makes use of the Nunchuk controller, tests a players strategic skills encouraging them to leave trails of mines for other tanks to stumble across. Wii Play also features faithful recreations of real sport games demanding precision and skill with the Wii Remote. In Table Tennis players hold the Wii Remote like a bat and use it to move their on-screen characters hand and return balls. In Fishing players cast their line with similar moves as

3-in-1 Media Remote (PS3)

It's ok ...3
To start with my review, as one previewer before said, "does everything it says", BUT there are still a few points which makes it not a 5 star accessories.

First of all, be aware that even if it looks matte on the photo it's glossy black, which means that every fingerprint is clearly visible. Also, as the buttons are rubber instead of plastic, it's difficult to polish the surface.

The top panel is easy to slide but has no well defined endpoints. So it can be moved about a tenth of an inch in any end position. Therefore I have the feeling, when holding it like a remote, that it's a bit waggly.

The keyboard is foil based which means that it has hard pressure points. But anyhow I have the feeling that some buttons have to be pushed harder than others to be recognized and sometimes appear twice afterwards. Unfortunately the keyboard has no backlight which shouldn't be a problem with the used technology. Writing in a badly lit environment is nearly impossible as there are also no navigation hints on F and J as on common keyboards. Typing URLs and short messages are ok as the writing speed is rather slow, limited by the used technology. Anyway it's still much faster than writing with the dualshock controller.

Basically it can be used as a controller as it has two thumb sticks for the right and left analogue sticks, which looks like the one on a PSP. Playing might be difficult anyway as the shoulderbuttons are above the sicks on the keyboard and difficult to reach while using the sticks.

I would recommend that remote to people who want a remote control for their PS3 and who have not already a wireless keyboard attached, or who want to have the possibility to write some messages from the couch without the need of a table.

In summery I have to say that the remote is ok. It's not a technical highlight nor a very high-class manufactured device. Therefore I give 3 stars as for 20£ there is no backlight function and the latching mechanism of the slide panel is a bit sloppy.

AVOID this one1
3-in-1 Media Remote (PS3)

Decide to return this unit straightaway. Build quality is rubbish, the clear black olastic is very scratched even upon arrival, and unused for the first time. The back unit does clip firmly to the front, so there is a 'bulge' in the middel and slight gap where the two pieces should join. The black plastic adhesive back plugs are badly stuck on, and come off easily.
Idea is great, and there must be demand for such a device. it is just that this one is not very good.

Don't bother - Wait for a quality Sony one1
Firstly I was disappointed by the cheap feel of this remote - especially the battery cover which seemed too difficult to clip in and out due to the cheap plastic, and will probably be broken off in a couple of months.

The next thing I tried was logging into Facebook on the PS3...in the end it took me around 15 very frustrating minutes to get my email address and password typed in on the QWERTY keyboard !!
Typing a none-visible password of letters and numbers, was a nightmare ! You could see that some keypresses were ignored, and some were entered twice(that seemed to happen a lot as you let go of the NUM shift key).
Finding the @(at) sign took some doing as well...it didn't match the printing on the keys!
Selecting links on the internet did not work with the QWERTY's X button, but did with the large X key on the outside of the remote !?

Next I decided to see if it was at least useful for watching DVDs...put one in, got to the main menu, and could NOT find any button on the front which would start the movie !! Maybe it was because I was losing the will to live by now, but I tried all the buttons on the front like start, select, X, play> etc.. but none would make it start. At this, I gave up and shipped it straight back to Amazon.

Seeing another review on here makes me wonder if I just got a dodgy unit, but I would not risk it again. I'd much prefer to wait and buy something quality from Sony.

Sony Go! Cam (PSP)

go!cam a gogo5
this small camera is very good and easy to use at first i had a bit of trouble getting it started but now it works fine and the filming works well to.To get the most out of the camers i advise you to get a 4gb memory card because you have to download the go!edit softwear and if you have games saves on there that takes up place to but all in all im really peased with it ITS A MUST GET FOR PSP OWNERS !!!!!!!

Nice piece of kit5
Got this on the day of release (Amazon superb as usual) and it's an impressive little gadget, not to be taken too seriously, though. It takes seconds to connect to the PSP and I started taking decent quality photos and movies immediately. Obviously not a digital camera replacement, but I don't think it was ever intended to be.
The Go! Edit software that I presumed would come on a CD, had to be downloaded from Sony and it took a lot of messing about before it would download properly. You don't have to download it if you don't want to and I found it a bit too gimmicky. Kids will probably have some fun with it, though. Overall, a nice little piece of kit.

Go!Cam (PSP)5
I received the Go!Cam (PSP)from Amazon just 2 days after I ordered it and within 10 minutes I was using the camera. This tiny camera is 1.3 megapixel image & 30 FPS video quality and there is a built in microphone which works fine although the PSP seems to interfere with it. The 180 degree swivel for the lens is great as one can do video diaries and there is a Many mobile phones have this quality or better but are limited in screen size and memory. The PSP screen is big but in daylight difficult to see. The digital zoom is not that great and is stepped in 4 levels.

The Go!Cam has several adjustments for size and quality. Videos can be taken at full PSP res (480x272) at 30 fps and photos can be taken at either 480x272 or 640x480.

I have added 2 outdoor images so you can see for yourself.

I downloaded the latest firmaware update which has a camera icon under the Photo section. It does what it says and adds a new dimension to the PSP. There is a tiny plastic case which is a very good idea.

I can connect via USB cable to the PS3, swap memory stick of transfer my images and films to my PC and then play from my PS3 and copy to the PS3 HD. I have yet to figure out how to transfer via WiFi from PSP to PS3.

I am having problems registering for the free Go Edit! software as my PSP was purchased out from Lik-Sang in Hong Kong which Sony's lawyers have now closed down.

Good value! When will the PSP GPS be available?

Xbox 360 Console (60 GB Hard Drive)

Unbelievable Value for money.5
My brother just bought this new model and I have to say it is incredible value for money.

To think the wii is £20 more expensive and the fact you get a 60GB hard drive, HDMI connections, unbeatable processing power, a streamlined online service and a massive selection of games....

Seriously, if its a choice between the wii & this...

Gaming Powerhouse5
I recently purchased this model of Xbox 360, and in the light of the New Xbox Experience (NXE) that has just been released, I thought I'd do a review. I'm very happy with the Xbox, and I have to say I haven't touched the Wii since I bought it (or for about 4 months previous to buying it). Here's my opinion of the good and bad aspects, and some stuff you may not know you can do with your Xbox!

GOOD:

Graphics:
Excellent. They look superb on my HDTV (even though it's only 22in), and this new model supports HDMI. It's worth noting that it's not compatible with the NXE right now, however. Eurogamer have also comparing cross platform PS3 and Xbox games since the beginning, and the Xbox usually comes out on top due to keeping its frame rates higher.

Gameplay:
Controller is great (bar the dodgy d-pad), and there are lots of excellent exclusives for Xbox 360 (Mass Effect, Gears of War, Viva Piñata, Banjo Kazooie to note a few). Most other games are cross platform too.

Price:
Amazing, cheaper than Wii or PS3. You can't really argue with that, and the value really is incredible. Games can also be picked up at silly prices second hand.

Online:
Online offers a slew of features I'll go over here
- Online play, works great provided your broadband is fast enough.
- Chat, via MSN messenger. Works just like a phone, but free. And you can play games at the same time. And leave annoying voice messages.
- Buy things! this is shoved in your face a little, but you can download excellent games like Braid and Geometry Wars from the Live Arcade.
- Download free demos and videos.
- Party up with your friends and chat/play together.
- Spy on what your friends are up to (as if Facebook wasn't enough) and compare skills with Achievements.

Other Features:
The NXE offers a lot of new stuff, most of which is an oppertunity to Buy! Buy! Buy! stuff from Microsoft, but also some really cool things:

- Play media files and music from portable hard drives. All compatibility issues seem to have been sorted, as mine wouldn't work on a friend's Xbox before and now it does. Also, it'll play .avi files :)
- Customise your Avatar (like a grown up nintendo Mii, but less creepily unchanging) to make yourself look cool. All blokes look a bit girly though.

BAD:

- No internet browser: why, when even PSP and DSi have one?
- Disk tray is loud: although not when playing DVDs. I've found I'm used to this now.
- Consumerist Home screen: Buy things, now! There are about 3 tabs of stuff to buy on the Dashboard now.
- Microsoft points are quite expensive: but then so are Wii points.
- Red Ring of Death: small chance that your console might decide to die at some point. Microsoft insures them for 2 years free of charge.
- Xbox Live is Expensive: £39 - 49.99 a year for Gold (online game playing) membership.
- Lag in online gaming if broadband connections are slow.
- Miss out on other platform exclusives: No amount of Banjo Kazooie will console you if you wish it were Little Big Planet.

All in all, this is the cheapest and probably most fun way to join the next generation of gaming, and to bring all of your friends along. The most pressing problem for me is a lack of good games on a console, or them being very expensive, and the Xbox is concern free in this area. Enjoy!

HD gaming for £160...? You'd be mad not to pick this up...5
It's taken me a while to make the jump from my trusty PS2 to the current crop of consoles. For as long as I can remember the XBOX 360 and PS3 priced-out the average gamer - and the cost of software was simply too high.

I had hoped that having won the HD format war, Sony would get it's act together and lower the price of their next gen console. Then came the ludicrous withdrawal of support for PS2 games, more console variations than necessary, and the continued absence of killer games. Worse still, they stuck closely to pricing the PS3 at £300 and over.

I began to seriously look at the XBOX 360, and when the prices tumbled along with the cost of it's software, I decided to take the plunge. Buying this 60GB model was a great decision. Here's why:

- GRAPHICS: The XBOX's graphics are truly awesome. The XBOX is easy to develop for, and most games run at 1080i/1080p, whereas the equivalent PS3 title typically displays at a 720p maximum. For a more powerful machine that's shocking, and the XBOX's superior lighting and pixel shading means that it more than holds its own. Just check out the technology comparisons on sites like www.gamespot.com and you will see that the XBOX typically out-muscles the PS3 in the graphics department. Through the built-in HDMI connection the XBOX's graphics simply leap out of the screen.

- SOFTWARE: The XBOX 360 has a huge games back catalogue, and with retailers dropping the price of the games, now is a great time to pick up superb software at prices cheaper than a new PS2 game. When you can pick up innovative, platform specific classics like Gears of War and Bioshock brand new in a '2 for £30' deal, you instantly realise that you can cheaply and easily build a comprehensive next gen gaming library. Factor in the latest software from EA, Namco, and the acquisition of previously Sony-specific games like Devil May Cry, you have a winning combination.

- RELIABILITY / BUILD QUALITY: The console has been internally redesigned to improve reliability from the ground up. New chipsets are more efficient, and the heatsinks are kept away from the main part of the console helping to control running temperature and minimise failures. The console doesn't emit much more heat than the launch PS2's did. Yes, the fans are still noisy compared to other consoles, but this can be dampened considerably by placing the console horizontally on carpet or another soft surface. The wireless pads work flawlessly and are ergonomically excellent. In fact all of the peripherals feel well designed and sturdy.

- ONLINE: XBOX Live has online gaming and content delivery nailed. Sony's online environment may be more aesthetically pleasing, but Live has pitched the experience to perfection. The only downside is that online connectivity is required to download console updates that enable certain games (FIFA 09, NHL 09 etc). That assumption is annoying, but the speed and ease of connecting to XBOX Live makes running updates a breeze.

- VALUE: You can't fault this. Quality games, major developer support, affordable software and a wealth of downloadable content. Add a comprehensive warranty into the deal and you have a compelling package. This is exceptional value.

PS3 advocates will no doubt point to their console as the one that will mature with age and eventually yield the best gaming experience. But right now the PS3 is an expensive and poorly utilised alternative, with only the integrated Blu-Ray player and marginally superior build quality to recommend it. By the time it is ready to come into it's own, the PS3 will no doubt face competition from the next creations by Microsoft and Nintendo. Sony have scored a bit of an own goal with their system, and in an effort to win the console war Microsoft have taken the upper hand with this little beauty.

If you want an affordable next gen gaming experience, with arguably the best support and visuals currently available, then you would be mad to ignore this. I couldn't let this pass me by, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Wii Motion Plus Accessory (Wii)

Some of you don't get it.5
First of all this only works with games designed for it. So it won't change the control of any old game. So far only three games use motion plus, Virtua tennis, Grand slam tennis and Tiger Woods. Forget virtua tennis, motion plus was a last minute addition, Grand slam tennis controls brilliantly, you swing the controller in the same way you would a tennis raquet allowing you to precisely place your shot and add topspin or slice, and it works very well, occasional errors are due to the player not making the correct motion. Tiger woods also has a superb control system though it probably is'nt as significant to the game as tennis. In short, if you are interest in the games i mention get motion plus, end of story.

Designed for 'Specific' games; NOT older ones!3
I'd just like to point out that the Wii Motion plus accessory is designed specifically for brand new games that make use of the 1:1 motion seeking technology in the unit.

It is NOT designed to improve the motion seeking of older games that have been released. This is because the technology is different; the Wii Remote on it's own is merely a giro that 'guesses' where you are pointing. It will therefore not improve gameplay of older games.

Given that a few reviewers have already missed this point so far, I thought i'd make it known what it's really intended for. EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis is one of the first games to make use of the technology, while Wii Sports Resorts will offer full connectivity too. It has to be said though that Grand Slam is a spectacularly average game and does no justice to the technology.

Games that make use of the Wii Motion Plus accessory have a small circular logo in the top-left corner of their packaging, so you know whether it's compatible.

With such being the case, theirs little need to buy the accessory now until games start coming out thick and fast that utilise it. The packaging contains the accessory, a new silocone sleeve that accommodates the accessory, and information leaflets that contain more languages than C-3PO.

A step forward in Wii technology, enough said5
The title says it's a step. It's really more of a leap. This enhances the performance of the Wii remote making realistic tennis, sword-play and the like (perhaps one day boxing!) possible. How could you not want to own this? Not only is it a technological leap, but it's a well made, thoroughly considered leap made by a company renowned, with good reason, for its commitment to quality. Nothing short of a holo-deck will be perfect, but this increases the sensitivity of the remote making the Wii games of the future more convincing and realisitic. "Motion" was the whole point of buying a Wii in the first place, right?

Some reviewers have, amazingly, complained that Wii Motion Plus doesn't work with older games. How in blazes could it possibly work with older games, programmed for the older controls? For crying out loud. People with I.Q.s lower than broccoli shouldn't be reviewing products. This is a NEW control, designed for NEW and FORTHCOMING games.

The Wii is about play control, not graphics. This improves the former. Enough said.

Nintendo DSi Handheld Console (Black)

Simply Awsome...5
I have forever looked at the DS Lite's title screen and felt disappointed about how little it could do. Now, the DSi has everything you ever wanted.

Hardware:
The DSi is a bit longer and a bit thinner, but you wouldn't notice. The matte finish is much better than the glossy finish of the DS Lite, as there will be no more finger prints, but it is prone to becoming dirty. The screens are 0.25 inches bigger, which may not sound like a lot, but it is definitely noticable when you step from the DS lite to the DSi. There is no more GBA slot, but that doesn't really matter. The volume controls are now buttons, which is much better for keeping sound quiet in public areas, but not so much so that YOU can't hear it. There is now a power button on the inside that can also return to the menu. The speakers are better and louder when you want it. There is a 0.3 MP camera next to the microphone on the inside of the hinge and one on the outside. The stylus is longer and fatter. There is an SD Card slot aswell for photos and music. Internally, there is a faster processor which games in the future will utilise.

Software:
The Wii-like menu looks very nice and is easy to use. Game cards can now be hotswapped (changed without having to turn off the system). The DSi Shop allows you to download games or DSiWare, of which there are inceasing numbers all the time, as well as the brilliant, free DSi Web Browser, which is much faster and better than expected, but cannot run Flash unfortunately. When you first log on the the DSi Shop, you get 1,000 free points (offer until march 2010 I think).

The DSi camera is only 0.3 MP, but that is enough for use on the console. There are some fun effects you can add too like Distortion Lens, Colour Pad, Mirror etc. The camera has face recognition for some effects, and there will be DSi exclusive games coming out in the future that use this feature. DSi Sound is another good program, allowing you to record sounds and play with them. More importantly, music on the SD card can be played with some fun equaliser graphics, and be slowed down and speeded up if, say, it was a learn a language CD and you wanted to slow the words down. I takes AAC files which means that you can put on your iTunes collection (but you must convert it in iTunes first). There your old favourites too: Picto Chat and DS Download Play. And remember, there is a huge library of great DS games, that this will still play (except Guitar Hero due to the GBA slot)

Overall:
This is a great console. If you have already have a DS Lite, it is a little expensive to upgrade, and I would wait to the prices come down. If not, i would fully recomend it and say that it is better than the iPod Touch and PSP.

Shame about the browser3
Well, it certainly is a desirable little object, and the cameras, despite being only 0.3mp, offer so many options for messing about with your pictures, that you almost don't need game cartridges. The new user interface is stylish and appealing, and wireless setup is as painless as you would expect from Nintendo.

However, the downloadable Opera web browser is an appalling waste of time. I tried to connect to Facebook, and got the message "out of memory, page may not display correctly", and indeed, it did not. Next I tried eBay. After a few minutes of waiting for it to load I got bored, and decided to try accessing my Googlemail. Again, "Out of memory". If this browser is good for anything, I've yet to discover what!

Then there is the music player. It certainly offers a wide variety of fun ways to mess around with your music ... if you can find a converter to get it into the AAC format the player understands. It's a bit like buying a printer and then finding that it only accepts an obscure paper size, found only in Mongolia. How difficult would it have been to include an MP3 player, or even a CD Rom with conversion software to convert your MP3s or WMAs to this obscure format??

Don't get me wrong. I love my DSi, and I'm glad I spent the money trading in my DS lite, but the browser is a waste of time, and the 'Mongolian' music file format will take a lot of getting around, hence, sadly only three stars from me.

Maybe a bit more thought could be put into usability for the DSi II?

It is an enhanced DS and that is all!5
I am sure that anybody giving this less than five stars is probably commenting that it doesnt really offer anything above the standard DS and is priced a bit too high. That is quite possibly true and I would not really recommend it for a current DS owner unless they have money to burn. However, it IS a Nintendo DS which is a superb handheld console and home to some truly great games like Professor Layton, Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Kart. It also, now, has a couple of cameras built-in which you can do various image manipulations with and a "DSiWare" download service to match the one available on the Wii.

It is still the best handheld gaming device around at the moment and if you want a DS and can afford to pay the extra then it is a brilliant little unit.
